50 years after the foundation of the Ruhr-Universität Bochum (RUB) and 40 years after the inauguration of the art collection of the RUB inside the universities’ library building, the continuously growing collection of modern and contemporary art, made possible by a donation of Albert Schulze Vellinghausen in 1967, will be presented simultaneously in two different places for the first time. The exhibition which will be shown at the Campusmuseum and the Kubus of Situation Kunst, will give a vivid impression on the range and extraordinary quality of the collection: It will showcase selected works of notable artists of Europe and the United States from 1945 up to today. The presentation at the Campusmuseum will focus on the period of the donation of Albert Schulze Vellinghausen and the extension based on a sponsorship by Paul Dierichs in the mid 1970s. At the Kubus of Situation Kunst, located next to its permanent exhibition space, which overall acts as a proceeding element of the art collection on the campus of the RUB, further priorities of the collection of the Campusmuseum, which constantly displays extracts, will be shown.

An informative tour of the „Collection Modern“ of the art collection of the RUB delivers the collection catalogue „Kunstsammlungen der Ruhr-Universität Bochum. Campusmuseum. Sammlung Moderne“, by Friederike Wappler and Richard Hoppe-Sailer, Düsseldorf: Richter Verlag 2008 (German only).
