ANJA NIEDRINGHAUS

20 years of war zone photography

January 21st - April 15, 2012

As a participating war correspondent for „Associated Press“, Anja Niedringhaus photographs hostilities, accompanies soldiers during war operations and documents the life and death of people in the state of emergency at military conflicts. Her photographs indicate the horror besides the daily grind at war, the demolition and the strive for dignity and normality. In this way the photographs seem to be more than mere documents – they always aim to be images of human existence.

On the occasion of the grand opening of the exhibition at the KUBUS on Saturday, January 21st 2012, there will be a conversation between Anja Niedringhaus and Prof. Dr. Antje Kapust at 5pm.

Displaying the latest photographs by Anja Niedringhaus, Hatje Cantz recently published the catalogue “At War”, including numerous illustrations and essays by Jean-Christophe Amman, Ulrike Demmer and Felix Hoffmann, issued by c/o Berlin. The photobook can be purchased at the museum shop in the KUBUS of Situation Kunst (180 p., 78 ill., 34 Euros).
